Transform It or Transmit It

Updated: Nov 4, 2022

Happy Mother’s Day.

I hope you received all the love you deserve and more yesterday.

One day a year to honor all the sacrifice, commitment, and love that a mother pours out is hardly enough.

We must do it for ourselves.

We must learn to love ourselves as fiercely as we love our children.

Here’s one reason why:

“All of us experience the absurd, the tragic, the nonsensical, the unjust, but we do not all experience this pain in the same way. If we could see these wounds as the way through, as Jesus did, then they would become “sacred wounds” and not something to deny, disguise, or export to others.

If we cannot find some way to transmute our wounds into sacred wounds, we invariably become cynical, negative, or bitter. This might be the major task of religion because we will be wounded, sooner or later. Suffering is part of the deal, as the Buddha taught.

….If we do not transform this, we will most assuredly transmit it, usually to those closest to us: our family, our neighbors, our work partners, and, invariably, the most vulnerable - our children.

Spirituality is about transforming both history and individuals so that we don’t just keep handling on the pain to the next generation.”

Richard Rohr from Just This

With great power comes great responsibility.

What could be more powerful than giving life.

We are participating in creation.

This is why we work on ourselves.

You doing the work on yourself and changing destructive generational beliefs and patterns of behavior is the best gift you can give to yourself and to your children.

You taking ownership and responsibility for the dysfunction in your life will set you free and enable you to live the profoundly meaningful and joyful life you were created for.

Jesus said, “I came to give you life and life abundant.” John 10:10

This is what I want you know, it’s not simple, it’s not easy, but it’s so worth it, and many generations will thank you.

If you’re reading this email right now and KNOW it’s time to make a change in your life, and you’re tired of blaming people and circumstances, and you’ve been putting it off because you don’t believe it’s possible, and you’re not sure you can do it, I’m here to tell you, you can.

You were meant for it and I’m here to teach you how.

Someone taught me. I will teach you and you will teach others.
